Off-site trips often bring excitement and the opportunity for new experiences.
From camp-wide trips to trips selected by the camper, there are many to choose from. Here are some examples of trips we have at Lake Greeley Camp:
Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom
Two of the best days in the camp season. The entire camp travels to Allentown, PA for an whole day of fun. With both Dorney Park and their waterpark, Wildwater Kingdom, there is no shortage of rides to ride and things to do. Junior, Super Junior and Intermediate division campers go around both parks with their cabin groups supervised by counselors. Senior campers are allowed to go through the park in groups using a “buddy system.”
- White Water Rafting
There are four rafting trips scheduled through our summer season, one in each of the two week sessions. Campers can experience the thrill and excitement of rafting down the Delaware River and have an outdoor picnic right on the river banks. Rafts hold up to 6 people and lifeguards accompany the campers in the rafts as well.
- Golf Outings
It’s in the hole!
For those campers who wish to test their golfing skills, Lake Greeley Camp can arrange an off-camp trip to a local golf course. Play through the 9 hole course with fellow campers, fist pump like Tiger and finish the day with a relaxing soda at the club house.
- Promised Land State Park
Campers can spend a wonderful day out of camp at the beautiful Promised Land State Park site for the swimming, beach and a cookout. Campers can ask to arrange a trip with one of the senior staff members.
- Washington DC/Virginia (3 day trip)
One of Lake Greeley Camp’s three day trips that take place in the 2nd half of our summer season. The trip includes many attractions such as a trip to the National Zoo, a tour of the Capital building, attending the National Aquarium in Baltimore, spending the day at King’s Dominion amusement park, and much more.
- Boston (3 day trip)
The second of our 3 day trips, the Boston trip offers campers the opportunity to experience a piece of New England culture. The events we do on our trip to Boston include whale watching, visiting the Six Flags theme park, and attending Duck Tours and the Museum of Science.
- Canada/Niagara Falls (3 day trip)
The third and final of our 3 day trips, Canada and Niagara Falls offers an exciting adventure out of the United States into our neighbor to the north. Included attractions we visit are the Maid of the Mist where the group stops at Niagara Falls for a tour to get a close up look of the Falls. Canada’s Wonderland, a beautiful amusement park with attractions for all campers in the group, highlights the 2nd day of our trip. Other places we visit are the Ontario Science Center and the Toronto Zoo.
- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Taking campers out to the ballgame with the Triple AAA team of our favorite Bronx Bombers, the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees, Lake Greeley Camp goes to four home games of the Yankees at PNC Field in Moosic, PA. About an hour and a half drive to the stadium from camp, we leave in the afternoon and reach the stadium about an hour before the game begins. Food is provided before the game and campers are able to purchase other items from concession stands or souvenirs. With our seats located in the upper decks of the stadium, we have a full view of the field and look out for those foul balls!
